Folder is full of non covered EOB’s

I am beyond frustrated right now.  When the mail comes that is for my dad, I do not take it upon myself to open it, but beginning to think perhaps that needs to change now.  I found a bunch of explanations of benefits from Medicare where things were NOT covered and getting these collection notices where different doctors and facilities have turned my dad over too.  Now I know when the bills come in I put them all on his dresser.  He ASSUMED they were paid by medicare and threw them away, didn’t even open these old explanations of benefits.  Now I gotta work something out here with a few places on his behalf so he can make some payments.  Honestly.  I think I am also going to take it upon myself to see if I can find my dad some Medicare supplement insurance plan of some sort too, hopefully one that is either at little or no cost to him.  His budget is super tight.  The state is already paying his portion of what it costs to have Medicare, and helping with the cost of the prescription part, but he needs more than that.  This is why he refuses to go and see doctors when he needs too, and right now he has an issue and needs a test done and is totally refusing.  It is just breaking my heart because it really could make a difference of life or death.  It is really a shame you know, you work hard all those years, when you retire, one thing that you should have 100% coverage for is health care!
