When we lost power

When we lost our power not even a month ago, from the remnants of hurricane Ike, it was out for over three days. We lost all our food in our chest freezer and refrigerators and I had just did my big monthly shop the week before. Plus the cost of eating out then having to replace it all, really added up. But since it drove us nuts sitting here in the quiet. Where we live, the power tends to go off a lot. So we have been talking about investing into one of those wind up radios. My 16 year old just laughs at us because he thinks there is no such thing. Just wait until we order it and it arrives. Maybe I will get him one of those instead of an MP3 player for Christmas, and he can work some energy up winding it up to listen to music!!

Cell crazy

I wish that I had one of those unlocked cell phones right about now. I am having some trouble with the cell phone I have and wish I could just go out and buy any phone I wanted, and not be limited too just the brands carried by our carrier. I know my phone isn’t that old and it will be replaced, but even my daughter’s phone is going to need replaced too and we got ours within a matter of three days apart. I thought the phone I got was the best except from the step up with the tough screen instead of buttons. But it certainly would be nice to be able to buy any phone I wanted and it would work.

I want to go shopping this weekend for a treadmill. I been tossing the hints to my hubby for a while now, he thinks we don’t have the room. But I say you make room! He quit smoking this past January and has gained a little weight. I been looking at the expense of joining a local gym but they want a two year contract commitment and with the economy the way it is, I just do not feel comfortable committing to that. But I want a treadmill. I know it is something I would use a lot and encourage my hubby to get on at least a half hour a day. So hoping this weekend he will sit down with me and shop!

If only he showered more

Being a caregiver can be very frustrating and hard sometimes. My dad has some habits I just can not seem to break. For example the eating at the computer, I see some chocolate from his ice cream on the carpet that I am going to have to scrub out in a little bit. But also his bathing habits are not too good. He has so much acne on his back, I see and I just cry. Sometimes when he has to be hospitalized I wonder if they somehow look down at me since I am his caregiver. I can’t force him to get into the tub, I ask each and every day, I settle for a weekly bath instead of his once a month to every six weeks!! I guess old habits are hard to break!

Leave it the big brother

Leave it to my big brother. He recently moved in with my mom and she isn’t handling the situation very well. She just called me all upset about him not sealing the dog food properly, and a few other things in the pantry area and now she has problem with moths. I sent her an email with a link to moth traps that she can purchase and use that is safe around her other food items. She had to throw away a lot of stuff that was in her pantry, not to mention the huge bag of dog food. Her budget is very tight and I told her that she needs to make my brother pay for the loss of stuff plus ordering those traps. She asked if my hubby and I would order them and I told her no. Why should we have to pay for something he did? I don’t mind helping her or sending her some money for groceries, but let my brother clean up his own mess!!

You hear the horror stories

Wow you hear the horror stories on the news about the market right now. Then a news update comes across the television about a local broker who ripped people off. I have to tell you, personally I rather do online trading myself then to hire a broker. I actually thought of putting a little something away and surprising my hubby. I feel I need to do a little more homework first but I do have a few companies in mind already!

I think I have the lead right about now. My blog will just be turning a year old and the amount of spam comments is truly out of this world and more than my blog that has been WordPress’d for two years. Wow I am just simply amazed. Who has the time go to around and doing what they do is beyond me. Many wonder why my blog(s) are set to moderate. If you seen my spam folder, you would know why!

I have had the worst pain in my left foot, after I have been out and out shopping, going for a walk or just doing yard word. It is the most horrible foot pain. I am wondering if it could be my shoes. I have tried different styles. I really like wearing clogs and I am looking for some comfortable ones. So I am letting my fingers do the keying and checking around online. I came across some really cute Dansko shoes and they certainly look very comfortable. My birthday is coming up so I am going to see if I get any money, and if I do I am going to order me a pair of the clogs that I can just slide my feet in and out of. With winter coming I gotta find something.
