Sometimes its worth the hunt

September 30, 2008

In today’s economy, sometimes it’s worth the hunt when you shopping for something you need.  Every dollar counts, even pennies for that matter when it comes to meeting your budget.  I pride myself in the fact I work very hard stretching our dollars and getting the best buy for our buck.  Some people actually look down on me because I clip coupons.  I save them up for a month, then when I am ready to do my big monthly shop, I clip them out and head off to the store.  I usually end up with over $40.00 worth or more in savings.  That amount today is nothing to sneeze at!  Not to mention the added savings I get off towards a gallon of gas!  For me its a win/win situation!

Secret of how the Titanic sank?

September 26, 2008

I have always been fascinated with the subject of Titanic.  I have read every thing I could get my hands on growing up, to the movies on television and on the big screen, and going to an artifact exhibit.  I have little keepsakes.  My uncle who passed away several years ago, when I was younger tried to tell me I was on the Titanic in a past life.  I don’t know how to swim and have a fear of water.  Yet amazingly enough I joined the Navy right out of high school!  But I did learn in boot camp how to use my clothing to be able to stay afloat!

But I just read an article at the U.S. News and World Report website about the secret to how the Titanic sank.  It is amazing to me how after so many years so many are still investigating it.  I have come to a conclusion that it was “cockiness, pride and greed”.  Pushing the ship too hard on its first run…..  Not having enough life boats.  Claiming not even God himself could sink this ship!

I also didn’t like the aspect of how the “lower” class were treated, just because they didn’t have the kind of money others have, that their lives were somehow less important to save.  Money shouldn’t determine whether or not a person’s life is worth saving.

Man arrested outside Obama’s home…

September 25, 2008

I have to tell you this article about a man who was arrested outside of Obama’s home doesn’t come as a surprise.  Honestly, I don’t think it will be the last either!  Sadly enough this is what our world has come too.  Anyone who isn’t happy with something chooses violence first!  Isn’t that mature.  Why not just not vote for the person?  I mean seriously?  It just reminds me of when President Reagan was shot and that was such a sad moment.  Because someone else was half cocked and not happy!  It’s the way of the world.  I wonder if he is going to play the gaming industry for their violent games they made and parents don’t pay attention and by for their child?  Isnt’ that how the blame game is played??

Google Expands Ad Buys to

Google Expands Ad Buys to Pro-Life Domain

In April, Google’s approach to pro-life advocacy was to search-and destroy. Now, several months and a court settlement later, the Internet giant has changed its policy and will allow religious groups to purchase ad space on the subject of abortion. The issue came to a head earlier this year when The Christian Institute was denied ad space because Google considered the pro-life message “inappropriate content.” Today, the Institute announced that after taking legal action, Google agreed to alter its abortion ads policy. Effective immediately, Google will “level the playing field” for religious groups and accept “factual” ad buys on abortion.

While we celebrate the victory, these legal proceedings continue to have a chilling effect. The fact that Christians have to expend their resources fighting for free speech equity means that we’re losing ground in the culture. More than ever, we need to carry this battle from the courts to the policy arena, where elected representatives-not unaccountable judges-direct our course as a nation.
