Traditional Weddings
July 23, 2008
I have been hearing a lot about traditional weddings and I use to think I had a traditional wedding myself. But from what I have seen I am beginning to think otherwise. Sure we had a church wedding and I had my maid of honor, and he has his best man. I wore a beautiful wedding gown “borrowed” and he had his white “rented” tuxedo and our kids were in the wedding party, flower girl and ring bearers. (I am remarried, happily for 10 years now). We had a wedding reception right after the wedding at the Church. We had a small wedding.
We did not have the rehearsal dinner, there was no bridesmaid gifts to buy, or anything like that. Certainly I do not feel I missed out on anything BUT our first dance at the reception. It was a small little get together with some food and fellowship. WE danced our first dance in the Pocono’s in PA.
My daughter is in a serious relationship that seems to be headed to engagement soon. All these things will be coming to play planning a wedding. I think with the way the times are today she may have a small wedding like my hubby and I did, but only time will tell.
Swing Vote
July 23, 2008
There is a movie that will be in theatres August 1, 2008 called Swing Vote with Kevin Costner. I have watched the trailers and previews of this money and can not help but feel this movie is coming out at the perfect time and could you imagine if in real life this could happen that your VOTE is the deciding factor in who is and who isn’t President?
Right now I still “undecided” as to who I am going to vote for. I think now I am waiting to see who our candidates choose for running with them as Vice President. I know that may sound weird to many but it is important for me to know before I put it out there on the table who I am voting for.
My husband is not a registered voter. Neither is my father. Of course neither of them wanted to run risk of being put in a jury, but I listen to them each night watching the news and expressing their views and points and I sit back and all I can say well you don’t have a say in it, because you are not registered to vote! They feel their “one” little vote won’t matter. But I said think about it that technically is “two” votes right there and how many others out there view that very same way as you that are not registered, could add up to millions and that right there would make all the difference in the world!
Trip to the mall
July 19, 2008
Sometimes I ask myself WHY did I even bother going to our local mall. Most people who are in a position job wise working with the public really need to be a bit more friendly! I have to tell you if I am shopping or browsing at a store and see the girls or guys that are working there are rude, I won’t spend my money there. I can see why so many are turning to shopping online. I seen some very pretty body jewelry while at the mall. I have joked with my hubby about getting a tiny nose ring and he is so old schooled. I must admit in a way I am too. I do have my ears pierced once but it’s been years since I wore any ear rings. But I did see some really cute toe rings I love to have! Who would of thought back in the day we would be able to buy diamonds to wear on our toes? It almost scares me of what the future might bring for generations to come. I hope my daughter doesn’t get her naval pierced. I have to tell you it might be something great when your younger but when you get to the age of tougher skin and wrinkles I don’t think it would something you want to see, granny walking down the beach in a thong bikini with her naval pierced? I think perhaps that might make younger generations stray away!
Jehovah’s Witness and no transfusions
July 18, 2008
I receive Decision magazine. I subscribed a few years ago and my mother in law bought us a subscription and I had it transferred to the subscription we already have so I am set for a while. I was reading an article under sharing your faith called Let My Daughter Die and it’s about a couple who were Jehovah’s Witnesses and had a had a five week old baby, the mom was trimming her nails and she started bleeding and didn’t stop and come to find out she has a terminal liver disease. The baby needed a blood transfusion and the “laws and beliefs” of Jehovah’s Witnesses is your not allow to get a blood transfusion? Wow I can not believe that they expected this poor baby to just die and when they found out they baby did have a transfusion do you know what they said to them? They hoped their daughter got hepatitis from the transfusion? OMG!! How horrible is that? All one can do is pray for these individuals who are seriously misinterpreting the bible.
I know there are those who are really rude when the Jehovah’s Witnesses come to the door. Some ignore the knocking or the doorbell ringing, some choose to sick their dogs on them. I would open the door and let them say what they had to say, take their material (and toss in the garbage of course) and wish them a good day. I don’t judge others for how they choose to believe or not believe, but for now on I am not going to even listen to what a Jehovah’s Witness hase to say, its going to be thank you for visiting my home and I will pray for you and to please leave and i will shut the door!
To think of how many lives that could of been saved over a course of time just by having a blood transfusion? Very sad indeed. I will never understand this at all.
