There is always hope

March 27, 2008

During this time of war and uncertain times, financial struggles, folks losing their homes, this really does play on a person.  So many people turn to the use of alcohol, and then before you know it, its beyond their own control.  They lose touch, they lose hope.  But there is always hope!  It’s not late, and if you can not do it on your own, there is always alcohol rehab, where your not alone and you can get the support and help you need to over home this hurdle.  This is a topic that hits close to home growing up and watching alcohol destroy my Uncle and his family. If only he would of checked into getting help.

What people won’t sell and buy on EBay!

March 25, 2008

I have to tell you, I am just surprised at what people sell on EBay and even more surprised at the fact of who is buying it and for how much!  I mean a corn flake shaped like the state of Illinois went for $1350.00  Holy smokes!  Do you have any idea how many times I have eaten corn flakes in my day to see them resemble something shape wise?  Here in Ohio there was a gal who last week before Easter had some frozen fish sticks that were stuck together in the shape of a cross, three of them, and she put them on EBay and someone bought them  for $77.00. Who would of thought huh?  I do not know about you but every time I buy fish sticks I have had them numerous time stuck together, but never took pictures and saved them to sell them.   Amazing!!   So it makes one wonder, who is now telling their kids hey don’t eat that cereal until I have gone through the box, to grab one to sell it!  I just think sometimes we go too far and wonder if their are other countries who see this stuff now laughing as us crazy Americans and what we won’t do for the almighty dollar!!

So it seems fitting to include this video with my post:

KFC market testing grilled chicken selections

March 24, 2008

Since my daughter’s boyfriend works at Kentucky Fried Chicken I can’t help but to post about an article I read, about them market testing grilled chicken selections, giving folks a non fried choice from their menu, but not until early 2009!  First I think this is long over due.  I wish they would consider a roasting option as well.  My husband love to eat chicken from KFC, but I rather not eat there too much due to it all being fried.  But what concerns me is, will the grilled chicken be tough?  I am not too thrilled with the fast food side of grilled chicken, because its tough and dry.   It would be nice to have a healthier version of chicken to eat should we decide to eat out.

Shocking News

March 24, 2008

This morning I visited a friends blog, and was surprised at what I read. Now I am not judging or trying to cause any bad vibes in our friendship but I just need to vent, so I am bring to my blog. She has a puppy she has been trying to train. She decided to get a shock collar. If are you are not familiar with a shock collar, they are an electronic collar that goes around the dogs neck and there is a transmitter which is like a remote control that is controlled by the owner or trainer. When you push a button, it sends a signal which sets off an electrical current and zaps the skin of the dog, which causes pain. When I read her post my throat just go this huge lump in it. I have to tell you this really hits close to home as I have seen dogs abused and really hurt by those and I am no where saying she is abusing her dog, just  I have seen the bad side of them. I mean it would be like using a taser on our kids. I personally could not do it. I wish we could afford to send her a gift certificate to a pet training class they could attend that was close by for them. There are just other humane ways to do it.
