Not to early to start shopping

Personally, for me, its not too early to start my Christmas shopping! I know your saying shh, Christmas is still 113 days away! However for me with transportation being an issue and the fact I can only get out on weekends, that seriously cuts my time! I know a lot of folks who do the Black Friday sales, and I can honestly tell you I have never gone shopping on Black Friday. However I think this year I will be taking great advantage of Cyber Monday deals! I don’t get out that often alone, generally hubby takes me or he will insist I take my son or my dad will want to tag along. That can make it a bit more difficult to shop for presents, especially if it’s for one of them. I have a few ideas in mind of what I want to get everyone. My dad needs some clothes and some after shave! He will blow his money each month on gas for the car and run around with shirts separating at the neckline. That is driving me nuts! However since other family members are here peeking over my shoulder, I can’t tell you what I have in mind for them!

Have you heard this song by James Otto called Soldiers and Jesus?  I am waiting patiently for this one to come up for sale!  I found this video on Youtube and thought I share it!  It just brings tears my eyes!  I have to say I have yet to hear it on the radio!!

My daughter stopped by this evening for just a little under an hour.  This was the first she had been to our house in months!  She was telling us how this Sunday is her last day at work.  I asked if she been looking for jobs online at all and she said she didn’t think she was going to get another job?  Not get another job?  Is that really an option for her seriously?  I would think that with a baby on the way, not having a stable place to live (her and her boyfriend are living in a basement of a friends house), you would think she would need a job!  We are talking about a baby coming here.  Medical expenses, clothes and then the stuff she will need for baby?  How could she not be getting another job? I asked my husband tonight if there was something I was missing here and he said he was going to ask me the same!

Michael Douglas has stage IV cancer

I just about fell out of my chair in shock when I heard that Michael Douglas has stage IV throat cancer.  He use to be a smoker and I didn’t know that either, I don’t even remember seeing a time where I seen a photo and he had a cigarette or a cigar in his hand.  When I hear about news like this it makes my heart sad.  I worry about my dad and the possibility of him having throat cancer especially with the growth they found two years ago and the fact he is having trouble again swallowing and refusing to go and see the doctor about it.  My dad smoked up until he found out he had COPD so its been about six years since he quit.   From things I have read and heard, Michael seems to be in good spirits and I am lifting him in prayer!

So many new games I love to play!

I have been a video game lover since they first came out.  I love to play them, its a way for me to escape a bit, especially when I am home all the time.  Now with my daughter moved out, my youngest has graduated and working, I am finding some moments where I am I don’t know what to do.  I have a PS2 but I played my games I have for it so much, I am getting bored with them.  There are so many new games out for the PS3 I love to try but I need one in order to play them!  Sure I have my Wii and I love it but I like having a game system set up down the hall so when football season starts, I can sneak away and play a game while hubby watches his!  A bonus too would be getting a Netflix account too, and then I could watch some movies at night when I can not seem to sleep!

I so love this show, My Wife and Kids!  Do you remember this show?  My son has it on now and this is the Episode that is on, called No Rules!  This is the one where Jay is away and the kids think its so hard with all the “rules” and dad it just mean!  So he says if they can go one week with no rules then after that there would be no rules!

This is just a great episode.  I wonder how many parents would love to really do this!   I tell you its just like the Cosby show when they played that game that time with Theo!  OH yeah many times my husband and I threatened our kids we do this and you know I wish we would of!  I was just teasing my son I was going to do this now just for the fun of it and he is like no mom no! LOL

Would love to just get away!

I have to say this year has been a challenge.  Honestly I just don’t know of another word to describe it.  Between all the fun things with my daughter, my youngest graduating from high school and caregiving, I really could use some time away!  My husband pushed back some vacation time and with Autumn just around the corner, we been talking about maybe figuring out a way for us to actually get away, just the two of us.  I showed him a few of the Branson vacation packages, because of my love and fascination of the Titanic, I love to visit the museum there.  We could take in a show, enjoy a great meal and just enjoy being together and just US!  Slowly but surely we are getting to this venture in our marriage!

With my son now working, this past weekend was an experience.  It was just the two of us and we were finding we were unsure of what to do.  Generally if we headed out anywhere, we took our son with us because we felt bad leaving him home alone!  If my dad goes for his drive or to visit a friend, or this time of a year a fair, the day is a little quiet.  He is never gone all night though, so we just get a few hours here or there.  I think in two weeks we will go to the zoo!

Perception of Beauty

Wow, have you seen this by Dove?  Really nits the nail doesn’t it, how the perception of beauty really is distorted.  Each and everyone one of us is beautiful in our own unique way and breaks my heart that young girls and teens think they have to live up to some superficial figment out there.  Watch this:
